Can gas booster pumps be used to boost flammable and hazardous gases?
The gas booster pump can partially boost dangerous gases, while some cannot boost dangerous flammable gases. It mainly needs to start with the classification of gas booster pumps. Gas booster pumps are divided into electric gas booster pumps and pneumatic gas booster pumps, which will be explained in detail below.
An electric gas booster pump is an electric motor that drives a first stage piston or multiple stages of pistons to move back and forth to achieve the purpose of boosting. Due to equipment limitations, a portion of the gas will be discharged into the atmosphere during the boosting process. It is not a problem to not boost the gas in a sealed space. The electric gas booster pump is not suitable for some gas that cannot be in contact with the oil due to mechanical movement. The obvious disadvantage is that the flow rate of the electric gas booster pump is quite large, which can meet various flow requirements.
Pneumatic gas booster pump is driven by the gas from the air compressor, and there is no electric spark or other situations. In addition, the drive cylinder and booster cylinder are sealed and independently separated, so there is no gas leakage, so they can be used in a closed space. Similarly, it does not necessarily mean that flammable dangerous gases can be easily pressurized, such as corrosive gases and high-pressure unstable gases, which are not suitable for pressurization. The same major disadvantage is that the flow rate is too small and can only be used for local boosting or parallel large-scale boosting.
